Ment’or is a leading 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization devoted to inspiring culinary excellence in young professionals and preserving the traditions and quality of cuisine in America.
Our aim is to build a sustainable community of young American professionals that are knowledgeable and confident in their career pursuits and will be life-long ambassadors of quality and excellence in the world of gastronomy. The organization is dedicated to making the careers of young cooks more meaningful and successful by offering them unique educational opportunities, internships, and access to a Culinary Council of established mentors.
Our programs and services are focused on:
Bocuse d’Or Team USA: Ment’or selects, trains, and supports Team USA to represent the United States at the Bocuse d’Or, the world’s most rigorous culinary competition, held biennially in Lyon, France.
Young Chef & Commis Competitions: The Ment’or Young Chef & Commis Competition series selects the country’s most promising young culinary talent to be trained by esteemed culinary leaders and to compete with their peers for the opportunity to join Team USA at the Bocuse d’Or, as well as recognition as emerging leaders in the culinary profession.
André Soltner Grant Program: The Grant Program offers a select group of culinary individuals the opportunity to train in leading kitchens around the world. Recipients are placed with some of the profession’s most respected chefs, with Ment’or covering housing, transportation, and salary.
Ment’or Giving Fund: The Giving Fund is a disaster relief program that supports workers integral to preserving the culinary success of America. Proceeds are allocated to support the culinary workforce or directly to restaurant businesses that demonstrate financial need.
